Destiny 2 Review (unfinished)
Destiny is one of this generation's biggest gaming franchises and it's not too hard to see why. But despite its status, it's still very flawed, especially the first entry. Luckily for us gamers and hardcore Destiny fans the second entry does deliver on the promise the first game made back when it was announced. Destiny 2 feels like what the first Destiny should've been. As a result, it doesn't feel entirely like a sequel though, more like a soft reboot that atones for the mishaps of the first Destiny. But enough comparison, what is Destiny 2 like as a standalone game? It's a mixed bag of phenomenal and just plain bad.
Let's start things off on a positive note and talk about the good stuff first. Destiny 2's core gameplay is great. Combat like a lot of things in Destiny 2 feels polished to perfection. Gun's have just the right amount of weight to them, specials have just the right amount of cooldown time, movement and overall combat flow isn't too fast or too slow, there's a good variety in the enemy types from a gameplay perspective with each type requiring a semi different strategy and vehicles control perfectly. In my opinion, this is essential in a game like Destiny where combat will take up most of your playtime. That's why grinding for hours on end is more fun than boring, that and being a loot whore is addicting. Pretty much all of Destiny 2's surface features show the amount of money put into this project.
