So, I received my copy of Darksiders from Amazon yesterday. Frankly, I was excited to play through this again as I haven't since it was originally released. Immediately I'm met with the game's cutscenes automatically skipping after about 20 seconds, which is very frustrating in a story driven game (for me, at least). Then there is the annoying audio sync issue which makes it hard to sit through the unskippable in engine cutscenes. I'd wager the audio was about 1.5-2 seconds ahead of the cutscene video. Oh, the textures for the water disappeared completely? Great! The framerate dropped from 60 to 20 in this corner for no real reason? Awesome! My wings are nowhere to be seen when I glide? Delicious!
This, and more, are present in the first...45 minutes to an hour of the game starting. Granted, when the game is working it runs pretty good and looks nice. I liked the first Darksiders quite a bit and the Darksiders 2 re-release bummed me out a bunch so I was hoping this would be a nice course correction, but there's no indication of that yet. If you were on the fence about picking this up I would maybe wait a couple of weeks to see if they ever bother patching the plethora of issues out of the game. After the DS2 re-release and this I don't have much confidence in this developer working on Darksiders 3 (which we all know they are).
Seems these issues are across both the Ps4 and XBone versions of the game, but I am on PS4. I guess I'll just play moreTitanfall 2. No worries there.
