If you see it on sale then sure, but I wouldn't pay full price.

Overall it's fine. Not really great, but not a waste.

How's the swinging? To be honest: Pretty annoying. You'll have fun swinging around for about 5 seconds, then hit an awkward corner or a wall, or run out of cieling. The swinging's also very fiddley- I'm just gonna compare it to Spider-Man for a sec:
In Spider-Man, the momentum you get depends on when you let go of the swing.
In Bionic Commando though, it's very binary. If you let go at the right time, you're fine- but if you let go a bit late or a bit early, you will STOP in mid-air, lose all momentum, and just drop.
You can get it to work if you practice at it, but it shouldn't be like that. It's fun after a while.

The combat's pretty good though. You can have a bunch of fun throwin guys around with the arm, throwin them far off into the distance, and at each other. It's got a lot of impact and feels really heavy and brutal. The fat robot guys are a good fight- You see them a lot in different varieties. They bounce around with little hands n little feet and shoot fireballs and laser beams at you. You can do some cool finishers on them and sometimes steal their beam guns, it's great fun. I like their animation, they're so doofy.
There are annoying parts though- Sometimes you're pinned down by snipers and have to run away and hide behind bins n shit- That's no fun at all.
The default pistol's kind of lame and the sniper rifle's awful. The explosive weapons you get to use in the second half of the game are pretty good though, so stick with it.
The few boss fights you have aren't that great. You've allready seen the good one; it's the worm. I wanted a lot more.

The plot is a big mess. One of the mysteries in the game is who this masked sniper is. I'll spoil it for you right now: It's a secondary character from a 1985 arcade game- And they never tell you, I had to go to the Bionic Commando website to find that out. That's how much of a mess the plot is. I didn't know which one Super Joe was right up til the end. Also the whole game's got this super-serious-army-men vibe to it that I really wasn't into. I liked the semi-gay tone of BC:ReArmed a lot more.
It's definately likable though. It picks up toward the end and it's a bit like a big fat action film. If you like lines like:
You get to a safe place... I've got unfinished business to take care of!
    and
You're no freedom fighter. You're just like me... A killer!
then you can get along with this plot. It's kind of shit, but hey whatever.

Oh and it's got some really big epic environments that look really big and cool.

    Online's kind of cool
It's like regular death match, except everyone's flying all over the damn place. I like it.
Actually- When you start a match, you have to wait for a 100 second countdown before the match starts. That's really annoying.

    Other stuff
You can collect stuff in the levels, but if you die, they re-appear. I'm like what the fuck- Collected things are supposed to stay collected.
There's no Challenge Rooms. I loved the challenge rooms in Bionic Commando ReArmed, but there's nothing like that here.
    The ending surprised me.
It's got some great remixes of the main Bionic Commando theme.
That boss in BC:ReArmed who also has a bionic arm is in this.
Bionic Commando ReArmed is a fucking top game, you should buy that first.
Actually yeah, this game won't be half as interesting if you've not played ReArmed.

Overall it's kind of shit, but if you want a new game and you've liked Bionic Commando so far, then yeah, you'll probably like this.

      The Flesh Is Weak 0

Every few months a game comes along that I absolutely want to love, but for some reason or another just can't. These are usually games that have fundamental mechanics that are both novel and fun, but make poor decisions when it comes to simple design choices. I really hate it when this happens. It means there is something about the experience that is resonating with me. Something that is drawing me back time and time again and therefore I must like the game. However, those feelings of elatio...

It’s been a long time coming, Spencer. Was it worth the wait? 0

The original console version of Bionic Commando, released on the NES in 1988, presented a completely new way to play the classic side-scrolling action game; replacing the jump button with a unique bionic arm. Rather than leap across hazardous gaps and pitfalls, players were required to use the arm to swing and climb through the levels, as it was implemented in many different ways to tackle certain situations, enemies and boss fights. It may have taken some getting used to, but once players becam...
