Folks, Extra Life time around these parts is always a fun adventure into the minds of sleep-deprived idiots who have Very Funny Ideas For A Stream at around 2 AM. I know I’m one of them, and so can you!
That’s right, folks, we are gearing up for a bigger and better and in-personer version of the Extra Life streams from the past couple of years. Giant Bomb staff, associates, and friends are going to knock you in the head with FUN over the weekend of November 4th through the 6th! This year we are aiming to raise $223,556 for UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital. If that number sounds suspiciously un-even, it’s because that will make our lifetime total raised a cool, clean, even $2,000,000. With your help, we can do it!
We would love for you to join our Extra Life team if you’re interested in streaming For The Kids. If you join our team and wind up streaming between now and the end of the year, please tweet at the official Giant Bomb account and I will try to retweet you if I am near a computer! Just make sure you tweet at me right when you start streaming so people don’t click on a link to a Twitch page with nothing happening! I can’t guarantee I’ll be around 24/7 to help promote but if we got nothing going on I’ll try to throw you into /chat if I can, or if we’re streaming ourselves I’ll try to organize a raid for you on Twitch when we’re done. Big ups to Sean Haas for leading the roster with almost $2,000 raised so far!
As far as the staff plans go, we’re still finalizing a schedule (I am trying to get people to commit early this year), but some of the usual suspects are going to pop up on their own streams during the week of Extra Life. We are hoping and planning to do 24 hours from the San Francisco studio, and I know our East Coast Bombadiers are discussing their plans, and a variety of Friends of the Site have expressed interest in popping in here and there as well. You can expect some amazing donation incentives, some ribald tomfoolery, and perhaps some japes and jackassery. It’s a long weekend and we’ll do our best to keep you entertained and amused! We're gonna take weird shots, drink some spicy salsa, and probably break some stuff. Join us!
We’ll have more announcements closer to Extra Life weekend, but I wanted to make sure you all knew how to sign up for the team and what to do to get some promotion from us.
