After watching this old episode of X-files I realized how many elements of it appeared in the original Alan Wake (loggers, generators and of course darkness).

I thought I'd list some other inspirations or references.

In the Twin Peaks movie a waitress who was murdered lived at a trailer park (just like Rose in the game) and who can forget the log lady from the original series.

The first environment of American Nightmare (the motel) reminds me a lot of one of my favorite thrillers Identity
