A management simulation game with roguelike elements, Lobotomy Corporation was developed in 2016 by South Korean studio Project Moon, and later released in April 2018. The developers claim that this game takes inspiration from paranormal fiction such as the SCP Foundation, television series Warehouse 13, and horror-comedy film The Cabin in the Woods.
The player takes the role of a manager known only as "X." With the help of an advanced AI named Angela and various "Sefirot" who lead different departments of Lobotomy Corporation, X must guide their agents to study and raise Abnormalities and draw a powerful new source of energy known as Enkaphelin from them. Some of this energy can even be converted into powerful weapons and armor for agents of Lobotomy Corporation. However, some of these Abnormalities are powerful enough to escape their containment, turn X's agents insane, or even destroy the entire facility if left unchecked, and so X must keep them contained to continue drawing energy from them.
Each run of Lobotomy Corp will start X off with raising a ZAYIN-class Abnormality named "One Sin and Hundreds of Good Deeds." This Abnormality will not escape and will be relatively easy to draw Enkaphelin from. However, all Abnormalities after that will be randomly generated, and range in power with classifications based on the Hebrew alphabet:
- ZAYIN: The easiest type of Abnormality, will not breach containment and will produce positive effects, but may still contain deadly surprises if not handled correctly.
- TETH: The next level of Abnormality, will occasionally breach containment and catch unprepared managers off guard by killing rookie agents.
- HE: Medium level of Abnormality, arguably the first real test of X's management skill.
- WAW: Harder level of Abnormality, this class usually contains a gimmick that must be solved to keep them in check, or they will easily kill off corporate agents.
- ALEPH: The deadliest class of Abnormality, capable of single-handedly wiping out the entire facility if left unchecked. However, these also produce the greatest rewards if handled correctly.
