MAME Machine Tips

Hello!

I have recently been given a MAME machine by a friend and would like to start downloading ROMs for it. Does anyone have any tips on how to do this without getting viruses? Any tips from your experiences loading a MAME machine would be much appreciated.

Since the real Pleasure dome was shut down I'd just stick to archive.org, I have no idea what that git is
